About This Item

Residual glue from pocket removal, BLEP, perceivable curve back boards, No Library Distinctions, Slight toning, else content appears as unread and unblemished with black/green cloth covered boards displaying no significant surface/edge wear.

Weinberger, a prominent structural engineer in his day and an inventor of, among other things, the fireproof cigarette, which patent the tobacco companies bought but never adopted for production even thought it would save many thousands of lives annually since a third of all fires are caused by drunk or drowsy smokers, but I digress. The author, Pearson, was something of an anti-Semite. See page 76, scanned here. Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, was a British Prime Minister, parliamentarian, conservative statesman and literary figure. He served in government for three decades, twice as Prime Minister. A teenage convert to Anglicanism, he was Britain's first and so far the only Prime Minister of Jewish heritage. He played an instrumental role in the creation of the modern Conservative Party after the Corn Laws schism of 1846.
