Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott & Co., 1950. First edition, first printing, 1950. Illustrated in black and white throughout, plus a color frontis. Bright yellow cloth with blue lettering and decoration, illustrated endpapers, 276 pages, illustrated dustjacket. The book is in near fine condition with some minimal rubbing to the spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, very clean pages with a name stamp on the half-title, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has some rubbing and scuffing, mainly to the extremities, some minor edge chipping, only about one to two percent paper loss overall.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
Doctor Dolittle and the Green Canary is a Doctor Dolittle book written by Hugh Lofting. Although much of the material had been printed originally in 1924 for the Herald Tribune Syndicate, Lofting planned to complete the story in book form but never finished before he died. Lofting's wife's sister, Olga Michael, completed the book and it was published posthumously in 1950. Everything except the first and last chapter are by Lofting.
