About This Item

New York: Arcadia House, Inc, 1941. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 12mo. 256 pages. Hardcover bound in faded darkgray cloth with red lettering. The binding is considerably worn and bumped at the corners and edges. The spine is toned. Outer edges of the text block are darkened or heavily toned. Heavy foxing to the end papers. The front pastedown has a slip of paper pasted in which has typed names and dates, apparently as part of a reading club. The pages show occasional spotting and foxing throughout. Several beginning pages have small holes close to the spine. The text is otherwise clean and sound. INSCRIBED by the author on the front end paper, "For Martha & Ray Butler / In the fellowship of a common interest, the textile industry-- / Thelma Thompson / May, 1941." Thelma Thompson Slaydon (1907-1977) was born in Ashland, Alabama and lived in Atlanta Georgia where she taught creative writing at Emory University and at University of Georgia.

About Pages Past Used and Rare Books

Pages Past is a small used & rare bookshop located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Since 1996 we have been serving the Triad community as well as customers from around the world. We have around 15-20,000 volumes in our shop. We specialize in North Carolina, Virginia, Civil War, Old Leather, Christianity, Eastern and Western Philosophies, and the simply unusual. We very likely have the oldest books in Greensboro; we keep a nice selection of antiquarian volumes and scholarly books.
