Bound in tan cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Vol. I: xxii, pp. 1 through 132. Plates 1 through 79. Title continues, "Illustrated in a series of photographs and measured drawings of country mansions, manor houses and smaller buildings, with historical and descriptive text." Authors examine Tudor architecture by illustrating some of England's most notable homes and mansions. Examples include Agecroft Hall, Amesbury Lake House, Beaupre Hall, Lytes Cary Manor House, Aston Bury Manor House, Athelhampton Hall, Baddesley Clinton Manor House, Beckington Castle, Bishop's Hull Manor House, Doughton Manor House, Speke Hall, Sizergh Castle, Painswick Court House, Oxford College, and many, many other examples. Details interior views of furnishings, windows, panelling, ironwork, doors and doorways, roofs, and brickwork. Exterior views of houses, gatehouses and gardens. Illustrations also include flooplans.
