A second edition copy. The dust wrapper is pretty much unheard of and is in lovely condition. Dream Days is a collection of children's fiction and reminiscences of childhood by Kenneth Grahame, and is a sequal to the 1895 collection The Golden Age. The volume is best known for its inclusion of Grahame's classic story The Reluctant Dragon, with some of the other stories included in the volume being The Twenty-First of October, A Departure and A Saga of the Seas.Scarce in the dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some fading to the spine and rubbing to the joints and extremities. With a previous owner book plate and inscription to the front pastedown and free endpaper for Arthur Francis Foster. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. In the original dust wrapper which is smart with some chipping to the extremities and fading to the spine. Very Good Indeed

Synopsis

Kenneth Grahame's unjustly neglected collections of vignettes, reminiscences, and inventions capture the ingenuities of a family of children--three boys and two girls--who live magnanimous lives nourished by the secret expeditions and private games they share. Written in the last few years of the 19th century, as Grahame looked back fondly at his own childhood, these sketches of growing up are poised artfully between two states of consciousness--that of a child protagonist and that of a remembering adult--and so manage to evoke both the active energies of youth and the nostalgic tenderness of reflection.
