Boston: Phillips, Sampson and Company, 1856. First edition. Hardcover. Octavo, Volume one only (vi, 329 pages). In Fair minus condition. Spine is grey with gold print. Boards in grey cloth, blind stamp design. Tattering to spine caps and corners, cocked spine, tears to rear hinge, shelf wear. Text block has name in pencil on front endpaper, endpapers brittle, cracked rear hinge, intermittent spine breaks, foxing evident throughout.
