Boston: Phillips, Sampson and Company, 1856. Hardcover. Complete 2-volume set. Small 8vo. Black heavily blind-embossed cloth with gilt spine lettering. vi, 329pp, (4pp ads); v, 370pp. Good plus. Head and foot of spines chipped, else tight and internally very good; ownership signature on Volume I copyright page and Volume II front pastedown. First edition, later state, with unprinted yellow endpapers. Stowe's popular second novel, though eclipsed by "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Scarce. BAL19389. SABIN 92396.
