Dune Messiah continues the story of Paul Atreides, better known- and feared-as the man who christened Muad'Dib. As Emperor of the known universe, he possesses more power than a single man was ever meant to wield.Worshipped as a religious icon by the fanatical Fremen, Paul faces the enmity of the political houses he displaced when he assumed the throne-and a conspiracy conducted within his own sphere of influence. And even as House Atreides begins to crumble around him from the machinations of his enemies, the true threat to Paul comes from his lover, Chani, and the unborn heir to his family's dynasty..."--Page 4 of cover.

Synopsis

Darkness descends upon Paul Atreides, now Emperor of a vast empire. Haunted by the consequences of his triumph, he grapples with the weight of prescience, veiled in shadows of uncertainty. As political intrigue intertwines with religious fervor, allies transform into foes, and betrayal lurks in every corner. Paul's empire teeters on the edge of collapse, while a clandestine plot unfolds, threatening to shatter his vision of a better future. Amidst a backdrop of secrets and enigmas, Herbert's masterful tale delves into the uncharted realms of power, fate, and the indomitable spirit of humankind. Dune Messiah is a science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, the second in a series of six novels. It was originally serialized in Galaxy magazine in 1969. The American and British editions have different prologues summarizing events in the previous novel. The novels Dune Messiah and Children of Dune were adapted by the Sci-Fi Channel in 2003 into a mini-series entitled Frank Herbert's Children of Dune. In 2002, the Science Fiction Book Club also published the two novels in one volume.
