White cloth with orange and blue decorations to spine and front cover. Gilt titles also to front cover and spine. Top edge gilt. 100 colour plates. A. & C. Black Colour Book. De Luxe limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies, signed by the artist. xii and 210 numbered pages. SIGNED by the artist (no dedication) and numbered 613 (of 1,000). Boards unevenly heavily browned and stained, scuffed to rear board. Fraying to cloth at base of spine. Joints cracked. Binding is still tight. All plates present and clean. A few pale foxspots and margin marks to contents.

A detailed commentary on the Durbar, with chapters on the state entry, the proclamation, the review of the troops, different camps, the Viceroy, Lord Kitchener, and more. Illustrated by Mortimer Menpes, an Australian-born British painter, author, printmaker and illustrator. Written by Dorothy Menpes, a British writer and the daughter of Mortimer. In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, worn with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards.
