A lovely example of this sought after first edition, first impression volume comprising ten short stories by Jack London, illustrated throughout. The first edition, first printing of this work with "Set up and electrotyped. Published September, 1922" printed to the copyright page. A selection of short stories by Jack London, one of the first Americans to become an international celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing, and an innovator of the popular genre of science fiction.A sought for posthumously-published work comprising ten of London's adventure stories never published before in book form. London selected these particularly for young readers. Including London's first published writing, wrote it for a San Francisco newspaper contest when he was seventeen years old. With a preface by Charmian London.The titles included are 'Dutch Courage,' 'Typhoon off the Coast of Japan,' 'The Lost Poacher,,' 'The Banks of the Sacramento,' 'Chris Farrington, Able Seaman,' 'To Repel Boarders,' 'An Adventure in the Upper Sea,' 'Bald Face,' 'In Yeddo Bay,' and 'Whose Business is to Live.' With the original dustwrapper. Illustrated with frontispiece, loose but present, and seven illustrations. Collated, complete.With the missing piece of the head of spine of the dustwrapper inserted to the volume. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, lovely with only minor shelfwear. The dustwrapper is sound, clipped to the top extremity of the front flyleaf [pricing still present $1.75], and with a slight loss to the head of the spine, loosely inserted in the book, as well as slight shelfwear and edge wear through. Frontispiece loose but present, otherwise the volume is firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated throughout. Near Fine
