About This Item

London: Robert Hale Limited, 1960 . First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8" by 5". None. A very scarce first edition of this entertaining novel in which history meets fantasy, written by Edward Atiyah. First edition. Bound in the publisher's original cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Very scarce. A file copy from David Higham's, a prominent literary agent founded in 1935. Written by Anglo-Lebanese author Edward Atiyah, who was known for his autobiographical work and his political activism. This particular novel centers on the little-known fact that Napoleon was almost born in England rather than Corsica. The premise of this novel assumes that this possibility actually happened, with the author reconstructing Napoleon's entire life in a British setting. Bound in the publisher's original cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light shelf wear. Pencil inscription of 'David Highams File Copy' to the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is very smart, with light edge wear and a tear to the head of the front and rear panels. Light marking to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
