About This Item
UK: Blackie, 1898. New Edition . Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. William Rainey. New Edition 1898. Three plates by William Rainey. A very early and one of his best Talwyn Morris board design for Blackie books. The book design was very similar to the one designed by Morris for the frame used in a Charles Rennie Mackintosh watercolour titled 'Part Seen, Imagined Part' in 1898. Talwin Morris was a leading influence in the Glasgow Style, associating with the likes of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Margaret MacDonald and Frances and Herbert MacNair. He worked on Blackie books from 1897 to 1909. Book is very good and quite bright. Edges lightly rubbed. Contents good. School gift bookplate to endpaper. More images can be taken upon request.Ref17165
