Providence, RI: Marshall, Brown and Company, 1886. Expanded Edition. Hardcover. Good. Publishers brown cloth with moderate wear to extremities, spine label mostly worn away. Former institutional copy with removed call letter label from spine, ink stamp on top edge of text block (thrice), and ink markings on the front flyleaf (two names and one ink stamp), no other such markings, or additions for circulation. The paper is easy to tear if not careful -- this copy has several tears to pages, one page corner loss with repair. A few pages have pencil annotations/corrections to the text, otherwise unmarked light toned paper. Subtitle: "With an appendix of original documents, many of which are now for the first time being published." This copy includes the first edition with an additional section (continuous pagination) "Notes and additional matter in illustration fo the preceding portion of this volume" with indtroductory by Wm. H. Potter. Extents th eoriginal edition of 315 pages to 423 pages. xxiv [1], 423 pages. Scarce.
