About This Item

New York, NY: Billboard Books/Watson-Guptill Publications, 2005 Billboard Books/Watson-Guptill Publications, New York. 2005. Hardcover. 2nd Printing by Line Number. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Near Fine; light bumping to head and tail. DJ: Near Fine; light bumping to head and tail. Black boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. 628 pp 8vo. John Schlesinger's extraordinary career in cinema, stage, opera, and television spanned half a century but it was his films that gave him the most fame. This book chronicles his life and career, from his early days at BBC to his emergence as one of the four Angry Young Men of British film in the 1960s to his Academy award for Midnight Cowboy. His work was most about humanistic stories, his intellectual middle-class perspective and his interest in other cultures and races. A clean very presentable copy.
