W. Nicholson & Sons, Limited, 1900. Good. [n.d. c.190?] Crown 8vo, pp. 332, (20) adverts. Blue cloth with gilt- blocked lettering to spine and gilt-stamped title to upper board, plus black decoration. Bevelled edges. Yellow endpapers. Lean to spine, extremities rubbed and bruised. Light spotting to endapapers, occasional spotting and and grubby finger marks to text block, else, clean. Spine cracked at title page, contents shaken, but binding holding. With decorative head-piece to beginning and tail-piece to end. Rare in this edition. Holmes (1825-1907) was a prolific American author, who vied only with Harriet Beecher Stowe for popularity. This title was originally published in 1872.
