Edward Newton A Collection of His Works" (printed in the format of one of Newton's Christmas Pamphlets) 2. "A Great Victorian" (cover title), The Trollope Society,Second Edition Augmented and Corrected", 1935. Wraps as issued. 50 pages. (Be it noted that Oak Knoll books was named for Newton's home). The Trollope Society of Philadelphia was founded by the noted bibliophile A. Edward Newton in 1929. In the depths of the Depression, Newton addressed the reading public on a project to "take our minds off" the tremors of the time. Newton published This short pamphlet which he distributed to friends and interested persons. “The purpose of this little pamphlet,” Newton wrote, “is to secure members who will sponsor the publication of a much-needed, complete, legible, inexpensive and uniform edition of the novels and tales of one of the greatest of the Victorians… Anthony Trollope.”
