About This Item
Aperture New York, 1971 An exceptional Aperture monograph, this was the soft cover edition and is a first thus. It was edited by Nancy Newhall. Weston was a key influence in the development of the modern photograph as a collectable object, and this survey convinces the viewer of the beauty and profundity of the camera when it is in the hands of a creative and aesthetic operator. Some examples here transcend the ideas of the time that photography was mere reportage. A beautifully printed first edition, this has some tiny flaws. When you take the age into consideration this rates as Near Fine, because it has a rather attractive blind stamp embossed on the end paper and a neat signature above it. It has obviously been respectfully handled. But it has, nevertheless, been handled. No marks or creases. Printed to the usual high standards of this photographic specialist publisher. The fine quality smooth art paper captures all the subtle shades of the prints, and it is obviously a high quality paper because there is no foxing.
