Good condition in original light tan wraps, minor wear to and soiling of paper wraps, some crimping to a range of pages at book's end, clean, unmarked and tightly bound of interior. Paul J. Larsen provides the Colophon. Norris E. Bradbury, Director of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. From the title page: "prepared for and in cooperation with the U.S. Dept. of Defense and the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission under the direction of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, it is identical with the edition officially published by the government of the United States." Stated Second Edition, from September of 1950, the first edition having been published in the same year. The volume was aimed at the ordinary curious citizen and more specifically Civil Defense personnel throughout the country. ix, 456 pp. and with many, many score black-and-white photographs and illustrations of ships and oceans and buildings and roads . . . but of only one human being, in this case, a Japanese woman in Hiroshima who had been wearing a kimono.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
