Deming was a friend and peer of contemporary artists Frederic Remington and Charles Schreyvogel. He also lived with the Native Americans for a part of each year of most of his life and made his living painting them. Almost all of his subject matter is related to American Indians, who gave Deming the name, Eight Bears. Numerous plates, bibliography, checklist of works.
