About This Item
Northampton: Butler, 1839. , 1839. 156p. Folding frontispiece. Including chapters on the selection of and the proper conditions for growing mulberry trees, raising worms, reeling the silk, and the economics of silk culture. Whitmarsh sought to convince American farmers of the ease and profitability of silk-growing. The author's plan even included instructing the poor in American cities in silk culture as a means of eradicating unemployment. Original Embossed green coth with gilt tile. Spine sunned.
