Gilt lettering in black panel on spine. Black and white diagrams throughout and a photographic frontispiece. In the Bell Laboratories Series. Final book listed on rear panel of jacket is Shive's Properties of Semiconductors, pub. 1959, so jacket is not first state. Pages remain bright and clean with mild tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. A previous owner's name to front free endpaper and pastedown. Small bookshop stamp to front and rear free endpapers. Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. Some mild, faint marks to surfaces. Boards are slightly bowed. Gilt is bright. Unclipped jacket has light edge wear with minor chipping and creasing. Mild tanning and foxing, rubbing and marking overall. Slight tape repair to foot of spine. Plastic wrapper rubbed and marked.

[2], [2 - frontispiece], [iii]-xxiii, [1 blank], [1]-558 pages, followed by blank leaf and appendix B which was printed on both sides of the rear flyleaf plus the rear pastedown (3 pages total). 8vo. The first printing, [November] 1950. Publisher's light blue cloth boards with black and gilt spine label. Previous owner stamps, affixed label, and old inked price on endpapers. Boards have some staining and overall wear. Top of spine bumped affecting textblock. Spine sunned (yellowed) as normal, with some flaking of the color. Foxing to recto of the frontispiece. Musty basement smell - not bad but there nonetheless (hence the bargain price). A well loved copy. Cloth.
