London T. & J. Egerton, 1791. THIRD EDITION 1791, 2 volumes, complete set. Small 8vo, approximately 160 x 100 mm, 6½ x 4 inches, pages: viii, 272; viii, 203, half-title in Volume II, not called for in Volume I, bound in full contemporary speckled calf, spine with decorative gilt bands, 4 gilt Etruscan style vases in compartments, contrasting gilt lettered morocco labels. Top of upper hinge on Volume I cracked (45 mm, 1¾ inches), spines slightly darkened and very slightly worn, very small piece chipped from head of spine of Volume II, small grey mark to upper cover of Volume I, endpapers browned at edges, a short closed tear to 1 margin, otherwise contents clean and bright, bindings tight and firm. A very good set. Some subjects covered: armies, structure and strength; exercises and parades; marching; methods of firing; manoeuvres; honours; encampment; garrisons; military courts and martial law; military punishments and executions; military funerals.
