Strunk (1869-1946) was an English professor at Cornell; he published this book on writing in 1919 and revised it in 1935. In 1957 it was revised by White (1899-1985), who was a student of Strunk at Cornell, and then published by Macmillan in 1959. This is the stated second edition with a copyright date of 1972. Printing number line shows 1-8, followed by a year number line showing 2-8 (I have no explanation.) Red cloth binding with gold lettering on spine only. Clean and bright but slightly sunned along the top of boards and spine. Previous owner's name and 6/1972 written on front free end page. Dust jacket has been clipped; also a five digit number is printed at bottom of back board area of the jacket , so this may be some type of book club. The phrase 'Second Edition" appears above the title on the jacket. Jacket is clean and bright but worn at extremities; no tears. 78 pages plus the introduction.
