Internals in Fine Condition.Illustrated with more than 120 photographs, drawings, and paintings, 34 in full color. Burgundy cloth with sharp and bright gilt titles to spine is quite clean with discoloration to lower spine edge, gently bumped lower front corner. Rear cover also has discoloration streak. Sewn binding is tight, solid and square. Elizabeth Longford examines the lives of these eminent Victorian women: the Brontes, Florence Nightingale, Ellen Terry, Harriet Beecher Stowe, George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans), Josephine Butler, Annie Besant, Mary Kingsley, James Barry(she wanted to be a doctor but as a woman she couldn't, so--). Each of these women struggled to be what they wanted to be in an era that tried to tell them what to be.
