About This Item
Dublin: Mecredy, Percy and Co.. 3rd Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo, pp. 659, rebound quarter leather over grained green cloth using original boards, gilt lettering, rubbed, corners bumped, some foxing to end papers and occasional mark thereafter but largely clean, binding tight. Published c.1905, this is perhaps of more use to the car historian for the photographic advertising it contains. Mecredy was an Irish bicycle champion in the late 19th century and editor of the Dublin Motor News, under which capacity he organised the famous Gordon Bennett Cup in 1903, the first international motor race, held in Ireland at a time when racing cars was illegal on British roads.
