About This Item
Toronto, Ontario, CANADA: University Associates of Canada, 1935. Patron's Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Lovely six-volume set in deep-red faux leather with bright gilt design to front board depicting a beaver against and within maple leaf motif. Color illustrations, color maps, black and white photographs. Each tightly-bound volume around 400 pp. Very light rubbing to corners, and on one or two volumes near spine caps. Frontispieces feature armorial crests of certain of the provinces. "Patron's Edition", registered in the name of Myles Standish Slocum, from all accounts a major book collector and philanthropist. Beautiful set. Fourteen years later, a Newfoundland Supplement was issued (1949) which may still be obtainable, if desired.
