A new, revised and enlarged edition of this comprehensive guide to needlework by Therese de Dillmont, Austrian needle-worker and writer. This is Dillmont's most popular work, translated into seventeen languages in numerous editions. Dated from Jisc c1900. In the DMC Library series, this edition published in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German.Dillmont owned various shops in European capitals and was one of the most relevant pioneer in the international and multicultural enterprise of hobby needlework in the late nineteenth century. She wrote this guide to the pastime which sums her knowledge and experience in the practice, with precise directions and instructions. With numerous figures and engravings in text throughout as well as thirteen full page coloured plates illustrating the various patterns. Collated, complete.Advertisements to the rear. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous ownership inscription to the half title, undated. Internally, the hinges are only slightly strained, holding firm. The text block firmly bound. The pages are generally very clean with only a faint minor spotting to the leaves of plates, and a touch of age toning, as usual. With numerous figures and engravings in text throughout as well as thirteen full page coloured plates illustrating the various patterns. Collated, complete. Very Good Indeed
