London: Constable and Company, 1916 Second edition. HB. Attractive rebinding in full green leather by M.F. Morse with 5 raised bands to spine, gilt titles and border lines to spine, and gilt decorative lines to the front cover. Top page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers in shades of green, brown and cream. Pages: vi, 200pp. No illustrations. Memoirs written while the author was recovering from injury during the Great War. Begins with his family history in Ireland; followed by education at Eton and Cambridge; includes chapters on the Royal Family, politicians, Ireland, and society since Victoria; ends with the outbreak of war in 1914; written in a lively, critical manner. A Very Good copy. The covers have some colour fade to green of spine leather (now light brown) though gilt bright, and there is a slight bow to the boards. Pages have light foxing to leaves at ends and in places to margins.
