Moscow: Progress Publishers, 1978. First Printing. good, fair to good. 264, illus., maps, top and bottom DJ spine edges worn. Translation into English from a revised Russian edition. Lengthy notation in Greek inside front flyleaf, small piece of paper with Greek notation pasted opposite title page, red marginal lines on p. 264. Marshal Vassily Chuikov commanded the 62nd Army, reorganized in 1943 into the 8th Guards Army. It played a decisive role inthe defense of Stalingrad, and later fought its way from the Volga to Berlin. The author deals at length with the negotiations on the surrender of the Berlin garrison and Nazi Germany's armed forces as a whole.
