About This Item
London: Century Publishing, 1985. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Fine. 8" by 5". None. The first U.K edition of Orson Scott Card's award winning, science fiction novel. A fine example of this scarce, first U.K edition.'Ender's Game' is set during the earth's future and presents an alien race who threaten to wipe out humanity in a League war. The prodagonist, child Ender Wiggin is chosen to prevent the extinction of his own kind. Card had initially written a short story of the same name in 'Analog Science Fiction and Fact' magazine. The novel won the 1985 Nebula Award and the 1986 Hugo Award. It is also on the U.S Marine Corps proffessional reading list. Ender's Game eerily predicted many technological advances such as handheld tablets and drone warfare. A fantastic copy of this scarce work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the extremities. A few marks internally to the wrap. Minor offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Age toning to the pages, as called for due to the paper used. Just the odd spot. Near Fine
