First edition. Illustrated throughout with 12 coloured plates and 21 monochrome illustrations. Collated complete. Discussing various houses across the English countryside including: Arundel Castle, Hurstmonceux Castle, Owlpen Manor and Newstead Abbey. Written by Vita Sackville-West, a British novelist, poet and journalist, as well as a prolific letter-writer and diarist. She was the inspiration for the protagonist of Orlando: A Biography, by her friend and lover Virginia Woolf. In the original green paper binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear to the extremities only. Unclipped dust wrapper, also excellent, with light chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
