Type: Book 4to [25.5 x 19.5 cm]; 2 volumes bound as one, iv; 188; iv, 188 pp, ( 376 pages in all ) 23 fine hand-colored plates all tissue guarded and clean, including frontis, most plates with several figures, index.Leather bound with 5 gilt decorated bands, edges rubbed, interior clean with the odd spot in the margin to approx 10% of pages, plates bright, cover good+. Very attractive colour plates, accompanied by detailed text on all the plants. The work was issued originally as a periodical starting in 1851. Volume 2 is dated 1853. Crack in the front hinge but binding still holding.
