About This Item
J.B. Lyon Company, Albany, NY, 1908. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Black stiff paper wraps with a string binding, 15 pages, four color plates. Corners and spine ends are bumped, text block a little loose in the binding. Interior is clean with no writing or marks. "The English lustres of the 18th and 19th centuries find no parentage in the genius of the East nor on other soil. There birth is independent, the original purpose distinctly utilitarian. They are not marvels of technique; on the contrary they are usually of crude and coarse body. But they were often built on graceful lines and when enameled in solid colors their warm metallic sheen gives them singular attractiveness. The technique of these wares has not been generally understood, and being so, has led to the wares themselves being underrated." Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 0 lbs 3 oz.
