A detailed historical commentary on English Pleasure Gardens, with chapters on the pleasure grounds, monastic gardens, Tudor gardens, Elizabethan flower gardens, French fashions, Italian villa gardens, and much more. Written by Rose Standish Nichols, an American landscape architect. Illustrated by the author and Allen Howard Cox, an American architect. In the original cream pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light spotting to the endpapers. Good
