Poetry in English typeset in Palatino by Spring Salvin. Letterpress printed by Bradley Hutchinson. Drawings printed duotone lithography by Omega. Housed in clamshell box in full cloth Canapetta with silver stamping. A new publication from Haybarn Press in honor of the 92nd birthday of Abraham Sutzkever, the foremost living Yiddish poet. London: Edward Moxon & Co., 1864. A collection of sixteen poems by the Poet Laureate. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First English Edition. Original publisher's green cloth binding, decoratively ruled and stamped; titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; 178 pages. The publisher has placed an eight-page catalog [dated "September, 1864"[ in the front of the book; a rather unusual practice in the book trade. Front paste-down has the bookplate of John Francis Neylan (1885-1960). A prominent lawyer, newspaper publisher, and politician, Neylan served on the Board of the University of California during the contentious years of the Loyalty Oath. Spine faded to brown, but with gilt titling still bright; split to the fore-edge of the spine;. The front gutter has been reinforced with filmoplast; the rear is cracked but holdin. In an archival plastic protector within a custom-made slipcase. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" -…

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows
) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions…
