About This Item
London: C Kegan Paul and Co, 1878. Leather. Very Good. 7" by 4.5". None. A selection of Alfred Tennyson's poems. This anthology begins with the titular verse and also contains a further fifteen poems such as 'Tithonus', 'The Voyage', 'The Flower', 'The Ringlet' and 'Sea Dreams.' 'Enoch Arden' is a narrative poem first published in 1864. The story was provided to Tennyson by Thomas Woolner. Alfred Tennyson was an accomplished poet and was the poet laureate for much of Queen Victoria's reign. He is remembered for his ability to pen short lyrics and much of his verse was based on mythological themes. In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to spine. Externally, very smart with patches of rubbing to the joints and spine. Small loss to the gilt at head of spine due to rubbing. Small split to the head of front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Spotting to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spot. Very Good
