"On October 15, 1954, William Willis achieved the impossible. Alone on a sinking raft, battered by nearly 4 months of storms and wind, exhausted from lack of sleep, he landed at Pago Pago in British Samoa, 6700 miles from the starting point in Callao, Peru. He had sailed not only further, but also faster than the Kon-Tiki expedition, to complete what has been called "the greatest solo trip since Charles Lindbergh's famous flight". -- from the front fold over panel blurb. This is his story. This book is a reading copy! Softening and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners and lower book edges. Light age toning of the textblock edges and internal pages. The free front end paper has been removed and the underlying webbing is visible for the first 3 inches of the front hinge. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the backstrip. There is a 0.75 " horizontal tear to the top left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel, a 2.5 " split along the lower, front spine gutter edge and a small tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing and some handling marks to the dustwrapper panel and sunning to the backstrip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. (5), 6-244 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
