About This Item
London: T. Cadell, 1773. 1st ed. . Hardcover. Good+. 14.5 Cm x 23.5 cm. Grey boards with fr.free end-paper+fly+t.p.+230+(1, errata); lib. label fr. pastedown (United Presbyterian College - late 19th, early 20th cent.) but no other lib. markings inside or out, very early tiny ink sig. above title ('John Brown'), patchy browning to fly, t.p. & frequently throughout, occ. extensive, but paper remaining sound, untrimmed bottom edge of text-block also results in occ. dusty strip along bottom edge, bottom corner leaf 133/4 missing, not affecting text - this could be a paper fault as edges seem a little thin, otherwise internally clean, tight & undamaged; grey boards rubbed at extrems with a few surface marks, cloth sp. very faded with almost complete pigment loss, cloth loss to bottom sp. revealing underlying paper base, red sp .label chipped and barely legible, despite faults the covers are tight & secure. A very acceptable reference copy of this scarce rationalist critique of the Book of Daniel by the controversial Gottingen professor. Text in Latin, occ. Greek and Hebrew.
