Original fine pen and ink and watercolor for the frontispiece of "The Vicar of Wakefield." Matted, framed and glazed. Watercolor measures (9 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches; 235 x 165 mm), but probably larger under the mat. Frame measures (16 x 13 1/4 inches; 410 x 340 mm). Signed 'Arthur Rackham' on lower right corner. In a gilt frame.
Image is of Vicar and his wife standing in in front of the fireplace. The wife is wearing a floral dress. A contemporary sticker for art dealer "Arthur Ackermann & Son inc" on the back of the frame. Also a sticker from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art on the back. Overall a very beautiful original painting.
