Wittenberg: Georg Rhau, 1546. Light wear to joints. 4to (196 x 146 mm). 8 leaves. Woodcut medallion portrait of Martin Luther on title, two full page portraits of Luther (dated 1546) and Johann Friedrich I, Elector of Saxony after Lucas Cranach the Younger. 19th-century German decorated paper boards. Provenance: W. Jackson (book label). A German poem written to commemorate the death of Martin Luther in 1546, when the volume was first printed in five impressions (no priority has been established). Walther worked closely with Luther to adapt Catholic church music to Lutheran liturgy. VD 16 W 994.
