Nearly pristine copy, bookseller's ticket to FFEP, exceedingly clean and sharp; DJ price clipped with very light rubbing to tips and faint toning to spine, tidemark to rear fore edge, now wrapped in mylar. Scarce in jacket. Straussian defense of the Declaration of Independence, tracing its particular afterlife in the Civil War and thought of Abraham Lincoln. The essay here flow out of his Lincoln work in "Crisis of the House Divided" whose sequel would not appear for another 35 years.
