Covers have faint rubbing and bumping. Book appears as if unused. Pages are clean and tight. Lavishly illustrated with hundreds of b/w pictures and 8 color plates. Errata slip laid in. This is the 'must have' book for anyone interested in fine needlework. 'This book covers crewel embroidery, needlepoint, silk and gold threads, black work, white work and stump work. There are also sections on appliqué, Shisha work, mixed media and design and colour. She explains how to apply a design using several methods. There is also information about frames, needles and threads. In each section the author explains the history and development of the technique. She shows examples of finished pieces of work and makes other suggestions of what you might use this embroidery for. For each section she gives a full page photo of a sampler together with a diagram and a list of the stitches used.
