First Edition of this topographical study of Roman Latium, the most important region of central Italy in which the city of Rome was founded, its system of roads including the Via Appia, its public aqueducts, and the most important cities mentioned by ancient authors. The maps, numbered from 1 to 4bis, show sections of the Via Appia while the plate depicts tomb fragments. The appendices include a bibliography. 4to. pp. 3 p.l., 276. with half-title. 1 folding lithographed plate & 5 (of 6) folding lithographed maps (sections of the Via Appia). later quarter cloth (moderate foxing, dampstain to lower outer corner throughout, several old ms. notes)
