About This Item

Oxford: S. Parker and D. Prince et al., 1762. First edition. leather_bound. Early reback in contemporary full brown calf. Very good. 281 pages. 26 1/2 x 22 cm. Three copper-engraved plates, two are fold-outs. "Jones of Nayland" was one of the prominent churchmen of his day. He represented the school more numerous than is commonly supposed, which formed the link between the non-juror and the later Oxford School (see: DNB). His Nayland Vicarage became the center of that circle which came to be known as the "High Church Party". This book attacked determinism and the natural philosophy principles of Newton. Modest text toning, wide text margins, wear to lower extremities, backstrip mildly abraded with loss to most of spine label, bookplate.
