London: Frederick Warne & Co. / New York: Scribner, Welford & Co., 1871.. 1871.. Good. - Thick octavo, cloth. The covers are spotted with their corners chipped & stained. The spine is faded with a small tear to its midsection. Its head & tail are chipped & there is a small piece out of the head. vii & 631 pages. Illustrated with 4 black-and-white plates, including a portrait frontispiece with a tissue guard. The hinges are just starting & the book is cracked at page 128. There is a previous owner's signature on the front endpaper. The tissue guard is darkened with offsetting to the frontispiece & title. 1 plate is loose. The blanks are foxed & there is occasional light foxing to the text pages. Good reading copy.
