'The Ethnographical Library' was a series of essays and reports on various tribes and human traits conducted by Edwin Norris. Norris included the works of various ethnology scholars including George Earl's "Native Races of the Indian Archipelago, Papuans". This volume is one of the best reports on the indigenous people in Papua New Guinea focusing on the aboringal tribes of Melville Island and Northern Australia.
This 1853 first edition contains numerous full-page and folding engravings including a frontispiece of a Dourga Strait hunter and a map of New Guinea!
