Emily Post's guide to proper manners in society was first published in 1922 under the title "Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics, and at Home." Ms. Post offers all manner of advice on proper behavior, especially in the upper tiers of American society. With scattered black & white photos on plates as well as facsimiles of notes, invitations and other written memoranda. An aspect of her writing style is her tendency to invent humorous names such as "Will B. Stern", "Mrs. Worldly", "Grace Smalltalk" or "Mr. Strangleigh" when providing examples. Includes and introduction by Richard Duffy. --- In full navy cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped cover and spine titling; dark topstain.
