Paris,: Bureau de Souscripton...,, 1838.. (iv), 171, (i) pp. 8vo. Original printed wrappers, uncut. With 5 very finely engraved folded plates by A. Dumesnil. Not in Wood, nor in the Cat. B.M. (N.H.). Copy with ample margins. The genuine reprint of author's famous article, originally written for E. Guérin-Méneville's Dictionaire pittoresque d'Histoire Naturelle (1833-1839). The plates were engraved after the drawings by the great artist and embryologist G. Martin Saint-Ange. The half title reads: De Génération Spontanées: De l'Ovologie et de l'Embryologie. -- (Partly slightly foxed).
