Original hand-colored steel engraving. Entitled "Evening in Persia" and published in Philadelphia by Graham's Magazine in January 1851. A romantic waterside scene, depicting a musician playing below a woman's balcony on a moonlit night. Engraved by Devereux and printed by Hogan & Thompson. Printed one side only. Overall size: 10.25 by 6 inches. Image size, including decorative border: approx. 7 by 5.5 inches. Some foxing (spotting) to the blank margins. Some paper/adhesive residue at the left margin, where it was attached to the binding. Image bright and unmarked.
