About This Item
Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (CUP), 1987. 1st p/b ed.. Paperback octavo, very good condition, figures, tables, edges & pages lightly toned, minor edgewear. 328 pp. A collection of new and original essays, all of which were inspired by Maynard Smith's writings. The essays cover the field of evolutionary biology: from microevolution to macroevolution, from evolutionarily stable strategies to sympatric speciation (the process through which new species evolve from a single ancestral species while inhabiting the same geographic region), and from population processes in plants to models for the evolution of sex and behaviour. Maynard Smith inspired a whole new generation of research workers.
